Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once! We tend to delete duplicate comments asking for feedback on the same post.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • When leaving comments, please remember not to add your blog’s url as your signature. It’s kinda spammy: after all, your handle links directly to your blog.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi there 🙂 I’m still relatively new to blogging and have noticed that though my home page gets a good number of views, few of the posts do.

I’d really appreciate some feed back on the lay-out of my blog and advice on what, to change so as to make it more accessible. Thanks in advance.

      1. Oh no – and this one is better than the one before it 😦 I’ll try to find a Theme to better organize the blog, thank you for letting me know 🙂

      2. Wait, did you mean the theme that is up now is cluttered, or was it the one before? Sorry, I just saw the time of your comment and I know I changed the theme right around this time.

  3. Hello, I am a new blogger doing the Blogging 101 course and I’d love some feedback on the theme I’m using. It is McKinley, and I like it, but now I’m very intrigued by the new theme Baskerville. I wonder if I should try Baskerville later, when I have more content. Would love some thoughts on those or other recommended themes. I plan to use my blog, Middle Aged Rage, mostly to write about life and comment on current events from the POV of “the sandwich generation.” Thanks.

    1. If you’re not sure about switching (which is perfectly understandable and common for people to feel!), and previewing the theme doesn’t give you enough of an idea how it will look in “real life,” I’d consider starting a test blog — which you can set as private — where you can try out not only new themes, but also other design and layout elements like widgets, custom headers and backgrounds, and more. (Since you can have as many sites as you wish for free, this doesn’t cost anything extra). Here’s a post we ran a while back on the advantages of using a test blog:

      I hope this helps!

  4. Hello fellow bloggers, I just started blogging, literally, 3 days ago and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get noticed, I guess. how do I spread the word of my blog? Any advice would be great, thanks in advance!(:

    1. First, finish your blog; and by finish I mean complete the About page.
For followers and everything, in my opinion, just interact with other bloggers out there and participate in events, etc.
Just keep blogging, and everything will follow.

    1. You could use the ‘Read More’ tag more often on your long posts. It’s difficult to navigate the blog when all the posts are big and expanded.
Also, your About page would feel a lot more welcoming and personal if you just wrote about yourself instead of a series of questions and answers. Kinda gives the feel of an interview.

  5. I would also like some feedback on my blog with an idea of getting an email pal (penpal) in USA. Must add, computer and my cooking are not a good mix. I almost spoiled this evenings meal.

  6. Hi all! I’m currently trying to find a relief for my stress and anxiety, hoping that a blog would help me to get some relief (let the blog ‘absorb’ the anxiety). I would love to have some feedback about my writing style. Also, probably due to my anxiety, I have a constant fear that I’m not getting feedback or views because my writing is awful / the subject is awful / I’m just complaining and crying for no apparent reason. I would like honest feedback, I think that it’s better than just let my mind wonder and speculate.

    The blog is https://mentalchattering.wordpress.com/

Some of my post I’ve taken the time to write and review and spent a lot of time revising, like this one: https://mentalchattering.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/non-reactivity-practice/

Other posts are quick relief, just writing what’s on my mind and letting them go, mostly when my anxiety is more severe, like this one: https://mentalchattering.wordpress.com/2015/07/07/sadness/

Thank you very much for taking the time (whether you liked the blog or not, I really do thank you for your time and feedback)

  7. I’d really appreciate just general feedback on my blog. I made one post, so far. I am not sure how I will organize things, yet.

    1. I liked the journal approach, it makes me feel immediately like I’m reading something intimate, something that you’ve shared with the world. I commented regarding the specific post in your blog. Good luck!

  8. Hey everyone!
So I have been working on my blog for about 8 months or so now and have accumulated a bunch of pieces. Mostly I write poetry but have also written other self-development/introspective type pieces. All the artwork I have found after I have written my writing to attach what I have written with an image which best reflects the content.
Please let me know what you all think 🙂

    Thank you! x

  9. Hi everybody! My blog is fairly new, I am beginning to understand how everything works, but would like some feedback on some of my most recent posts! Feedback on the writing, how I could improve, what I could be doing differently, if my posts are interesting enough? I am still learning and need all of the help I can receive! It would be much appreciated if anybody could offer some feedback 🙂 thank you for your time!!
