Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once! We tend to delete duplicate comments asking for feedback on the same post.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • When leaving comments, please remember not to add your blog’s url as your signature. It’s kinda spammy: after all, your handle links directly to your blog.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  2. Hi guys!! I’ve had my blog for a while now and I’ll admit my postings are not the most regular…. But recently I’ve been experimenting with new styles and I’d love some feedback, particularly on this post I just pulled together last week: https://annedonnelly.wordpress.com/2015/05/20/journeeinoubliable/
Is the story clear, are the different people delineated well, is it easy to follow, etc
Thanks for any feedback you have 🙂

  4. Hello everyone! I am new to wordpress and would definitely love some feedback, as well as to just make some friends! My blog is a more general blog, and one I will be pairing with my youtube channel, but I’d really like to get some feed back on what people are interested in watching/reading. Also if you like reading about music and concerts, there’s this awesome blogger that’s just starting out. countryheartgirl 🙂 I am sure she would LOVE some feedback.

  5. I’ve just started out a new beauty blog. I was never into hair-care or skin-care, but I have recently found myself with a lot of time on my hands and decided to experiment with my skin-care and hair-care routine. I have tried a bunch of new, exciting products and decided to blog about them all! It would be great to receive some feedback as I have just started out with blogging and am sure have lots of room for improvement! Looking forward to your feedback, thanks.

  6. Hi, I’m a new blogger and would love some feedback on the over all appearance of my blog. I’m not sure about my writing style and would definitely welcome some critiques, thank you 🙂

  7. Hi Everyone!

I’m 19 years old and fairly new to WordPress (as in I joined and made my first post last night). I woke up to see that I had already gotten views. BUT, I have always believed that I am a horrible writer. I would LOVE if you guys could give feedback. Though, great at thinking and speaking, putting my thoughts and ideas down for the whole world to see is where I tend to make mistakes. Feedback is always encouraged. I believe that criticism makes me better. And also do be afraid to state your opinion on my topic.

I also intend to read and give feedback on other blogs as well as looking for followers and people to follow.

    Thanks Guys!
    Khalin

    1. Hi, I’m a new blogger too, so I’m no pro, but I like your writing. It’s honest and heartfelt. I think maybe you could simplify your first page (seems like a lot of things show up in the menu on the right that maybe people don’t need to see?). It might just be the theme you picked. You have several typos – I don’t really like proofreading my own work, so I probably have typos, too! You could ask a close friend to review it before you post if you want to avoid that. I tend to work on my post over several days (which means I only post once a week), but it allows me to reread it several times. I encourage you to keep writing and expressing yourself this way. I know for me it’s therapeutic. Good luck!

      1. Hey there,

For a person as young as you, you have a very mature thinking. Its the kind of writing that easily grips the reader in a very strong hold, that is extremely hard to fight.

Keep writing on, and if you want put yourself out there I think you should consider writing something daily. You could use “The Daily Post” and their daily prompts to get you going!

Keep writing, and never stop 🙂

  9. Hi fellow bloggers

Im a recent newbee to this new media

I have just listened to a speach from the Former President of The United States of America Ronald Reagan.
It is in my humble opinion as profound and real today as it was the day he gave it.
    I’m not a American , I’m not political, but I am a believer.

Check out my now ready to be read blog and take the link to The Ronald Reagan foundation site and hear an honest, genuine speech that should be remembered and respected by all.

Please give your opinion and feed back .

    I’m now ready to talk.

  10. Hey Friends! Please HELP!

I’ve recently started a personal blog that I’m hoping to use as a bit of a portfolio as well. I feel really lost in what types of things I’m missing and how to make my layout the most effective. I would really love any comments or feedback on what could improve my blog.

    Thank you so much!!

    1. I like the crispness of your header and I don’t think it’s too simple, but I agree that the white header on white background does enervate it a bit. Perhaps if you changed the background color of either the header or the page the header would pop more. Otherwise, I like it a lot and I think your page looks clean and professional.

      1. Hey! Thank you for taking time to check it out. 🙂 For now I changed my page’s background while editing my header. The header does pop out more, I’ll play around it more. 🙂

  13. Hi there! I am fairly new to blogging and I wanted some feedback on the way I have been structuring my posts. Do you think the way I have it now (a small tidbit, photo, and “read more”) works well? Or should I just show the whole post on the main page?
Also, I was wondering, would it be good to host my photos elsewhere? I am worried about my blog growing over the years and running out of space to upload photos.

Any advice or opinions would be great, thanks!!

    1. I like your layout, it loads quickly and the small introductions with an option to read the rest of an articles following jumps makes it easy to navigate. I would stay away from displaying the whole article on the main page. From what I’ve seen that tends to polarize visitors, they either like the one article and thus your whole page or they don’t like it and thus dislike the whole page. Samplings gives you a broader base to use for appealing to your audience.

As far as the picture issue, I’m not sure how important an external host is. I post a few pictures with most of my articles and have run into no issues. I think you can clear out your stored pictures without removing them from your posts, but I’m not sure. If that is the case then you can always delete old images.

I hope this is helpful, good luck and happy blogging.

  15. Hello, all.
I’ve enjoyed the advice I’ve gotten over the last few weeks and now have a new question. I’m not much of a media socialite, my twittering is nearly non-existent, and I have a great deal of trouble coming up with tags. Would you be willing to look over my most recent post(s), http://tinyurl.com/mwqtb2k, and let me know what you think of the tags I’ve used? Do you have suggestions on how I could make them better?

    Thanks in advance,
    Alexander

  16. Hi there! My blog started as a beauty blog but I’ve since expanded it (I would lose interest if I only posted makeup reviews) and now I include all kinds of arts and entertainment. I’m also a huge nerd, so I’ve done lots of comic book and video game reviews.

My request is to have you guys check out a video game review (bayonetta 2 is the most recent review) and let me know if I’m giving too much or not enough info. I’m not really sure how to make them stand out from the rest. I would like these posts to get more views, but so far they’re not as popular as my other topics. Any advice would be greatly welcome!!

PS: I would include a link but I’m actually letting a henna tattoo dry on my other hand, so I’m stuck phone blogging until I can use a keyboard.
