Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for feedback, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else.

If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment.

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling. If you simply leave a link to your blog, it’s likely to be overlooked.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  2. Hello all,

I’ve been blogging for almost a year and I’d like a little input about the focus of my blogs. So far they’ve tended to be about family and kids, then there were a few about travel, and opinions – I feel like I’m very diffused. It doesn’t help that my blog is named Random Musings – that may be a dead giveaway ;-)!

Also, I’m sure I’m guilty of overusing phrases and metaphors, so any help with improving my writing style would also be appreciated.

I blog at: http://samhitarhodes.wordpress.com/ and thanks in advance for your help.

  3. I’m finding it difficult to design my blog as i too the .com route not realising it would be a lot more complex. And also finding almost impossible getting it out there to be seen. I write on my experience no using/buying cosmetic products for a year. Opinions and support would be most welcome!

  4. Hi all. I just have a question. I would like to have different pages or sections in my blog but I don’t know how to do this. I see other people with several pages such as recipes, photos, poetry etc. can anyone help me figure out how I can have more aspects to my blog? I hope I have explained this enough. It’s obvious I haven’t a clue isn’t it?! Thanks all x

  5. I would appreciate feedback from fellow writers on:

    About that dog

I’ve written several short pieces about my dogs, both living and uh, reincarnated, and I created this blog as a repository for those stories. I hope that I’ve kept it from becoming “just another dog blog.” Not to diss dog blogs, but I wanted this to be a place for writing, images and observations, whose subject matter happens to be about dogs. I’d appreciate hearing your general impressions about Sit, Stay and Read, whether I’ve achieved my stated goals without having gone too far astray, and which material you find most engaging.

Thanks from me and all my rowdy canine friends. We appreciate your time and thoughtfulness.

    1. Hello fellow blogger. I saw your blog and it looks like a very happy feel good blog. I absolutely adored the pictures of the dogs, sure to put a smile on anybody’s face. I must say the theme and background you have chosen are very apt and fitting. I love the title of your blog also. The only constructive criticism I can give is that you write well, I wish you would write more or slightly longer posts. But overall great job! 🙂

      1. Thanks so much for the feedback and for taking time to read beyond the home page. I’ll take your advice re: longer posts into consideration. I’ve deliberately kept them brief because I’ve assumed that most readers would have a limited attention span reading about my dogs!

      2. You are welcome. Dog owners are always happy to share some quick funny snippets about their dogs. Its like how moms talk about their babies all the time. I think a quick story involving a dog’s own idiosyncratic responses will be fun to share and read. Good luck.

    1. Meem, hello I checked your blog and really found it interesting. You have a broad array of articles and seem to be a person with broad interests. I loved your poems, and the posts on food. The pictures are great too. I really enjoyed the article, “The perks of being a TCK”, good job? Here is a constructive criticism, because I am sure that’s what you are likely after? Although I liked your blog and the posts, I found the background a bit distracting from the posts. The background is too powerful and takes away the reader’s attention. The theme line, “Write till the blue ink fueling your imagination runs out” is catchy but one can barely even read it because of the background again. Thanks.

      1. Thankyou loads for your feedback! 😀 I really appreciate it!
I guess I’ll have to figure out something to do about the background (although I’m in love with the pattern behind, I might have to let it go) *sigh*

thanks again, your always welcome to stop by! 😀
