The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

If you’re looking for something more intensive, try our Blogging 101 or 201 challenge, starting April 15.

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment . .

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling. If you simply leave a link to your blog, it’s likely to be overlooked.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. I recently started a blog and am quickly getting burned out on content. I have started the blog by talking abou how important family is to me but want to eventually transition into children’s poetry. I am interested in a ton of topics, however, and I don’t want to seem random to those reading. How can I make sure of smooth transitions from one topic to the next? Should I just start another blog with different content?

  2. Hi I’m looking for some constructive criticism on my short story. It’s called Hostages and Hostages: Revision #1 on my blog thesleepybooknerd.wordpress.com

  3. Hey, bloggers. My blog is very inexperienced, like myself, and I would love to have some feedback on these posts in particular. They were something I wrote for my last year’s school magazine-ninth grade-and I felt like putting them up here.
The poem in particular is something I’m very nervous about, since it has been over six years since I’ve penned a poem. I would love it if you guys took a look at it. Once again, as I always do, I should remind you that my native language is Malayalam, and that I am but a depressed fourteen year old.[I would prefer comments on the posts themselves, thanks :D]

  4. Hi everyone. I have done a community pool comment before but since then I have changed the theme of my blog and have bulked it up a bit. I would like to know how user friendly my blog is and if anyone has any ideas for the tagline as I am completely stumped. Thanks.

    1. I liked it. It was sweet, inviting, smooth – like a comfortable shirt. I don’t know where you intend to go with it, but I’m interested in seeing where it takes you.

      1. Thank you Wendy! I plan on taking it through the good, great, and twisted events of my life. It’s something my children have been asking me to do for quite sometime, I’ve just never taken the time to think it through.

Does the site itself seem to be eye pleasing? I mean like the layout, size, shape, etc.?

      2. Yes, I like the initial picture, totally interesting and unexpected. The rest is simple and I suppose it’s a matter of personal taste but I prefer that, it doesn’t pull attention from the words.

    2. The simplicity of the layout is a good thing. Unless you see some dire need to spice it up a little it, don’t. And there’s something about your header that speaks to me. It’s a perfect fit.

On the writing side, you’re on the right track. There are some small grammatical and technical errors here and there (some clauses, like “If you’re not a farmer you’ll not know this”, read awkwardly) but to be fair I was looking for them. The casual reader won’t notice them because they weren’t really that distracting.

All in all, great job! Keep it up!

  6. College student and I need a good way to plan out my blog posts. Started in September, I enjoy blogging everyday, but that isn’t possible cause I work and I have classes. Was wondering how people plan their posts out and what kind of planner system do you use.

    1. Here is what I think. When I first opened the website, the first thing I noticed was that there was no posts. Then I did some wandering and I realized the actual blog is on a different page called The Ramblings. I like the content and it is very relaxing. The theme is pretty but maybe make it more lively. Do some customization. As for your title, I like it. It helps explain your blog in a couple of words.

  9. I do not even know how I ended up right here,
however I assumed this post was great. I don’t realize who you might be but definitely you are going to a well-known blogger should you aren’t already.
    Cheers!

  10. I gave up looking for a better place to post this. I just found out (by surprise) that 101 requires 2-step auth. That’s not possible … I’m on the other side of the digital divide. No cell signal here. Nope, I don’t want to keep an SMS site open continually for every time I need to login. So, unsub me from 101. Thank you.
