Community Pool

The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment. Zero to Hero folks, head to today’s forum thread to chat about the assignment, but feel free to seek other feedback here!

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  1. Hi everyone!
I just started blogging, and I would love to get your feedback on the blog’s layout as well as the content. People have told me that I lack pictures (unfortunately don’t have access to a laptop right now) but I was wondering if there were any other things.
    Thanks so much in advance!

  2. Hello all! I’ve been trying to make a clean/professional looking header image, and can’t decide on a design. So far I’ve made one that sort of look kiddish. Nothing looks good to me now. Let me know what you think : ) Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  3. Hey everyone!
I’m new to blogging and would like some help and feedback on a few things like my layout and some topic ideas. I like writing but topic choice is something I question a lot. I’m a senior in college so I was thinking of writing about how to go about selecting a major/minor and maybe some study tips that work out for me. I also like DIY projects and wanted to write about my trial and errors with them. Would there be an interest for things like this? I’m open to any other suggestions of what readers are looking for. Thnx!

Thanks to Suzi81.wordpress I have discovered this site (Daily Post) and I see there is quite a bit to explore. She kindly gave me an overall evaluation as I asked her nicely – Thanks Suzi!!

I started blogging years ago as a journal and was surprised when someone actually commented. Then I enjoyed the visitors and comments v much; alas, that has cooled down a bit. I was wondering if it was the layout, subject matter, etc. Any critique would be much appreciated folks!

  7. Hey there, world! I’m new to blogging and haven’t really shared my style of poetry with anyone before or seen others write like this. Can anyone offer some comments over on my blog? I’ve set a 365 Day Creativity Challenge for myself and would like to see some growth as the year wears on. Here’s my most recent piece about love; it’s put me in a bit of a vulnerable position so I hope it works out. Please let me know what you think, and thanks in advance! http://sacredhereandnow.wordpress.com/2014/01/05/day-5-this-is-a-story/

  8. Any advice on getting traffic? I managed to scrape up a few visitors from sharing my post on facebook once. The problem is, I don’t want to fill my wall every time I post on my blog, my friends will loose interest. I’ve also commented on a few other blogs, but I don’t want to live by spamming. Still very new, so I would appreciate any suggestions!

    1. Make good use of tags would be my main advice. That will make it easier for people to find your blog via search engines and the like. Also see who else on WordPress is blogging about similar topics and follow them; they might follow you back.

  9. Hi all!! I’ve joined the Zero to Hero challenge and that has helped loads but I would like help, input, feed back…anything really. My main concern is a language one. I speak Spanish and Its a big part of my life and so I like to incorporate it into my blogs but not sure whats the best way to do it since I know not everyone can read Spanish. I’ve thought of having a foot note with the English equivalent but just really unsure about all that. I’m a few months new and still trying to grow into my blogging skin so would love to hear any words of advice.

    1. Personally, I like how you include spanish within your posts. Most likely, because I’m hispanic as well… I say that you don’t really need to add english translations as you don’t have too much spanish in them. On another note, I really like your blog so far and so you have a new follower. Go latinas!

  10. Hi. I’m not quite a blogging beginner but I would love some feedback, particularly on my theme. (Though thoughts on any of my posts are welcome!)

    My blog is duckducktape.wordpress.com

    1. I really like the theme. It’s creative yet clear and structured. One thing that I find is missing in your posts and pages is pictures. I find blogs much more appealing when they include pictures that fit to the post or general theme 🙂

    1. An about page should be on every blog, as it improves the personal connection of reader and writer, and therefore you might have more consistent readers and commenters 🙂

    1. go to discussion settings, under the comments section you should be able to change that. un-tick where it says that commenters need to give name, email etc. 🙂

I am looking to change that, so I’d appreciate any suggestions. I’m more interested in creative writers, etc. but I’m willing to check any blog out. ^-^ keep on blogging amoebas!
