  3. Hey blogging family! I recently discovered that my posts weren’t being displayed under the tags I listed, I may just be technologically inept, but because of that, a few of my posts were never seen. I’d love for you all to take a look at my blog and let me know what you think!

    It’s a humor blog for females mostly, but guys could benefit from some candid insider chick information too 😉

Having a rule-bound structure in my own fiction writing allows me to quickly generate ideas and ‘practice’ writing without being too precious about it. ‘Subtle Sci-fi’ is not my claim for a new genre (I’m not so misguided) but simply my way of setting up a particular type of rule. Every ‘Subtle Sci-fi’ story starts with a premise, a slight change to one of the conditions of the ‘world’ or living experience. So for example: People can only see in black and white. Immediately I find that these premises set up a series of questions and problems that the writing then has to solve or negotiate with. What would change if people could only see in black and white? Would there be art, television? How would music be effected? Would scientists ‘discover’ colour in the same way they discovered radiation? Come and have look at the results:

    1. I only had time to read a couple of your posts, but if they are all vignettes along the same line–memories of growing up in a large Catholic family–then I do believe they could be published under one title. They are definitely well-written and a pleasure to read.
