The Community Pool is for those of you looking for input, whether on post ideas, writing, blog design and layout, or anything else. If you have a post, page, or idea you want to bounce off someone, leave a comment. Your fellow bloggers can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Read on for the ground rules and to leave a comment . . .

  • You’ll get the best feedback if you can be as specific as possible about what you’d like people to respond to or where you’re struggling.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. We’re here to help and support one another, not to beat anyone down.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.

    1. I guess you could incorporate more of your story by starting with a theme when you write your posts. For instance, your post on driving the Ford Focus through the river doesn’t have an overarching theme. One that springs to mind is doing what you didn’t think you could do (the Ford Focus thing; another is stretching yourself by setting out on a hiking adventure. Or perhaps finding adventure wherever you are. If you start with a theme you can comment on it as you tell about what happened. I think that would give more depth and meaning to your posts.

I wasn’t sure what UP was until I happened to see your tag. Maybe a map would help orient us readers?

Nice layout of the site and I love the name – it’s whimsical and intriguing.

Feel free to hit me up if you’d like to discuss what I’ve written here.

    1. I like the colors and design of the layout, but I wasn’t sure until I read your entry that you were a young woman, and I wasn’t sure what to expect from the blog because there was no subtitle or description. It looks like it’s a personal journal. Perhaps you could put that in the heading? Some sort of “about” page would give the reader a clearer look at who you are (without revealing any identifying details like your real name).

As far as the latest entry, I found it distracting that you didn’t use proper punctuation such as capitalizing “I”.

Your dogs look so sweet. I love animals, too.

Having a personal blog can be a great outlet and it looks like you’re off to a great start.

      1. Thanks for the advice! I have an about page but I guess it’s not showing up??? I’m still trying to figure out the layout set up. I will work on it though 🙂 as for the description my bf came up with the simple header lol I really wasn’t sure what to put up bc I wasn’t sure what I was really going to write about.

  1. Hi! jollycar.wordpress.com here! I just wondered if anyone could tell me how to get my front page August post off the front page and into my August Archives. How can I limit the number of post that appear on the front page. My theme is Suburbia and I’ve played around but fear it will take some CSS skills (that I don’t have) to do the job. Any input? Thanks

  2. Hi all,

I’m pretty new to blogging and although my blog subtitle references travel I seem to be posting here, there, and everywhere, although I’ve done a couple of travel posts. I would love some feedback whether this is working or whether I should remove the travel subtitle altogether. Is it okay to just blog about your interests, even though they may be diverse? I’d love some feedback!

  3. Wow, i just actually want to share this post this week – part of a series i am running called ‘How to raise your young children as world changers’ where i asked a bunch of parents to share some stories of some lessons/activities they are doing with their young children that are helping to grow them well – this one went ballistic with over 400 FB shares and generated a lot of interest so i just wanted more people to be able to see it and share it with parents of young children if you feel like it will be helpful: http://brettfish.wordpress.com/2013/09/05/how-to-raise-your-children-as-world-changers-meet-nigel-and-trish-branken-and-their-family
