What a wonderful idea for sharing our blogs and getting to know some more! I’m still enjoying the heck out of this challenge and I look forward to writing my blog post for each and everyday! I’m posting a song a day throughout 2011. Below are 3 of my favourite posts.
1. Sarah Mclachlan – Dear God – http://wp.me/p1grkX-3B (a very good response to this one)
2. Yiruma – River Flows In You – http://wp.me/p1grkX-5E (I just wrote as it came to mind in this one, I was in a very reflective mood this day)
3. Vintage Trouble – Nancy Lee – http://wp.me/p1grkX-bL (this post was featured on the bands facebook/twitter pages)
Please come over, and leave me a comment. I read and reply to every single comment I get on my blog(s)

I could say that two of my top three posts are the ones which were Freshly Pressed – The Challenge of a Daily Post (http://wp.me/p1aPJk-5i) and I Love Junk Mail (http://wp.me/p1aPJk-fL) – but I really think my top three posts are the ones which made me smile when I wrote them or brought back a memory of a loved one that was dear to my heart. They may not have received many comments or even visits — but they are special to me. Here they are: An Amazing Life (http://wp.me/p1aPJk-E), George Will Do It (http://wp.me/p1aPJk-6T) and You’ve Got To Know When to Hold ’em (http://wp.me/p1aPJk-5f). There are many more that I really enjoyed writing because they tell about my crazy family – and they make me laugh, make my cry and sometimes relieve stress – but I’ll pick these three for today. It’s been a great journey so far – and I’m looking forward to the rest of it!

It’s like trying to pick my favorite grandchild – can’t be done – especially since my blog, Off the Base, has several talented contributors whose goal is to close the gap of understanding between the military and civilian communities. But, I will share three blog entries that have had huge impact in no particular order.
– FIVE YEARS, TWO KIDS AND FOUR DEPLOYMENTS LATER: From Army Wife and President of the MacDill Enlisted Spouses Club, Jackie Dorr, http://offthebase.wordpress.com/2011/01/13/five-years-two-kids-and-four-deployments-later/
– AN OPEN LETTER TO WESBORO PROTESTORS: From fellow WordPress blogger and civilian contributor, Harold: http://offthebase.wordpress.com/2011/03/03/an-open-letter-to-westboro-baptist-church/
– SENDING A SON OFF TO MILITARY COLLEGE: From a Military Mom no longer in training, Dorie Griggs: http://offthebase.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/mom-readies-for-sons-military-college/
I’m privileged to share their stories and the insights from many more.

Below are my favorite three posts . . .
1. Back in February I was freshly pressed, which was a hoot. I wrote about being freshly pressed. You can read it here: http://filmdrift.com/2011/02/24/my-brief-flirtation-with-blog-fame/
2. My most viewed post (after the freshly pressed post) was my review of the movie “Rango.” Here it is: http://filmdrift.com/2011/03/05/rango-movie-review/
3. I’m kinda proud of my review which compared/contrasted two versions of the movie “The Mechanic” (the 2011 and the 1972 versions). Read it here: http://filmdrift.com/2011/02/07/the-mechanic-movie-reviews-of-both-the-2011-and-1972-versions/

Very difficult, I wanted to choose at least 4 but didn’t. Okay, enough of the self-aggrandizement. 😉 You can see my selection, beginning 5-2-11 here:

This challenge has been a big help in keeping my goal of three posts per week. I might have made that goal anyway, but it’s nice to have all the shared effort to keep me motivated!
I’m blogging on military retirement & financial independence for the book that’s coming out in August. So most of the topics are on retirement lifestyles and military finances, but once in a while I share old sea stories.
One of the most popular posts was “Dealing with retiree guilt”:
http://the-military-guide.com/2011/01/27/dealing-with-retiree-guilt/
The second-most popular post was Suze Orman’s less-than-helpful advice to a dual-military couple:
http://the-military-guide.com/2011/05/04/suze-orman-advises-a-dual-military-couple/
But by far the most popular has been a 25-year-old sea story titled “Hang on!”:

Story Bounce! Tell your story!

I wasn’t prepared for the huge amount of interest in this post. So many comments that helped the story along was amazing! I’m planning on putting it all together at some point in a story and posting it.
Osama Bin Who?
http://noobcake.wordpress.com/2011/05/05/osama-bin-who
I’m proud of this post because I took my time to get my thoughts in order and be clear on what I wanted to say without seeming biased or seen as some weirdo having a rant for the sake of it.
