How to sign up: PostADay / PostAWeek

Here are two challenges we’re organizing: Post A Day and Post A Week.  You can pick which, and then you’ll be committed to posting once a day, or once a week, for all of 2011.  We’ll support and encourage you from this blog every step of the way.

You can join up any time – don’t worry if a few days or weeks have gone by, start now.

Signing up is simple – do the following:

  1. Post on your blog that you’re participating (you can grab a sample post here).
  2. Start using the tag postaday2011 or postaweek2011 with your posts (tips on tagging here).
  3. Subscribe to The Daily Post via email thru the sidebar, or via RSS, and you’ll start getting reminders and inspiration every day.
  4. If you’d like a badge for your blog’s sidebar, get one here!

Once we see your first post, it will help us get a sense for how many people are involved in each program.

And if you need a new blog, it’s easy – go here to grab one.

Got it? Awesome. Glad you’re on board.

  1. While I haven’t technically kept up with the post a week challenge, there’s a good reason for that. My blogging has gotten me a professional position as a writer!

I’m now writing 3-4 articles a week on computers for SemiAccurate a computer industry publication.

Which is really neat. Keep writing folks!

    1. Hey, Wayne, that’s really exciting – congratulations!
I just started a blog on writing – would love to learn how you did it. Is your story on your blog, and if so may I link to it from mine? You can visit mine – it’s a brand-new blog, though, so it won’t take you long to read it.

  2. I just signed up for Post A Day, but the big news is that I managed to add a Post A Day badge to my sidebar! Thanks for the easy instructions. I look forward to posting241 more times in 2011!

  3. I think I did this and I’ve been tagging the posts when I use topics from the daily post. How do I know if I’ve been ‘officially’ signed up?

  4. Thanks for the challenge! My writing output and readership level at Allison’s Book Bag has increased since January. That’s about when I joined the Post A Week challenge. I never thought that I could handle the Post A Day, but recently tried posting daily teasers to promote my May book tour stops. I had so much fun that now I am, gulp, switching to the Post A Day. I love the incentive!

  7. So, I guess I’m a bit late on this but, I’ll join up! I generally post several times a week, but daily is a bit too often for my hectic schedule.

I know you’re doing the photo challenge, but would anyone want to do a music challenge… sharing the music out there with others? I know I’m always intersted in hearing about an artisit I’m not familiar with!
I generally post music once a week anyway…

  8. I’m super late, but excited about joining. This looks like a great place to start for a first time blogger. I’m sure I’ll find plenty of inspiration here and looking forward to interacting with some great people.

  9. Publishing on the internet is daunting here. Internet access in Nigeria is often unstable and sluggish that some times you may spend a whole night trying to open a mail or uploading a webpage.

Most people here use mobile phones and blackberries, so they cant do serious productive work like publishing and uploading. All one can do is facebook, chat or twitter. Thanks to commercial cybercafes where you must rush to catch up before your paid time expires.

As for electricity to keep you computer on, it is only there as you are able to buy fuel and pay for a good engineer and spare parts.

Sweating alone because of hot temperatures can make the mouse pad unusable especially when you’re on battery with without power for the ceiling fan/air-conditioner.

  10. Should the daily/weekly post(s) be about the topic suggested by this blog, or does any blog with at least one post each day qualify?
I’ve just started blogging 🙂 The blog that I am most likely to update daily is about, *gasp*, mathematics :/ 🙂 (So your “Topic Ideas” don’t really work for me :))
I’m going to assume that my blog qualifies and sign up 🙂

  11. I took up the challenge to take one photograph a day (at least) and post it on my blog…then I found out about the Weekly Photo Challenge. This is great, keeps my eyes open in a new way. I’m so inspired by the photographs I’ve seen.

  12. Am I still eligible if my blog is theme-specific? I plan to write a lot, but it’s going to be on a smaller range of topics.
