Remove a Menu Item

Use the following instructions to remove a single menu item from your navigation menu.

To determine which section of this guide to follow, visit your dashboard and check under Appearance on the left side. If you see Editor, use the Site Editor section of this guide. Otherwise, use the WP Admin or Customizer instructions.

In the Site Editor, your menu comes from the Navigation block. Follow these steps to delete a menu item:

1. Visit your dashboard.
2. Go to Appearance → Editor.
3. Select the Template or Template Part you want to edit, or click the preview of your site to open the Site Editor.
4. Open List View at the top-left corner of your screen (it’s the icon that looks like three horizontal lines above each other.)
5. Select the Navigation block, which may be nested inside other blocks like Header, Group, and Row.
6. You can then delete a menu item using one of several different methods:
   • In List View, click the three dots next to the menu item and click the “Delete” option.
   • In the menu item’s toolbar, click the three dots next to the menu item and click “Delete” option.
   • In the block settings in the right sidebar, click the three dots next to the menu item and click the “Remove” option.
7. Click the “Save” button to save your changes.

Removing a page from your menu will not remove the page from your site. It only removes the link to the page from your menu.

On sites with classic themes, you can remove menu items using WP-Admin by following these steps:

1. Visit your dashboard.
2. Go to Appearance → Menus.
3. Click on the menu item once to expand the options.
4. Click the “Remove” link:

5. Click the “Save Changes” button to save your changes.

Removing a page from your menu will not remove the page from your site. It only removes the link to the page from your menu.

On sites with classic themes, you can remove menu items using the Customizer by following these steps:

1. Go to Appearance → Customize → Menus.
2. Choose your menu.
3. Click on the menu item to expand the options.
4. Click the “Remove” link:

Click on a menu item to expose the Remove link to delete a specific item.

1. Click the “Save Changes” button to save your changes.

Removing a page from your menu will not remove the page from your site. It only removes the link to the page from your menu.

Delete a Menu

A deleted menu cannot be recovered. To completely delete a menu and all of its items from your site, follow the steps below. You can create a new menu following these steps.

1. Visit your dashboard and navigate to Appearance → Editor.
2. Click the “Navigation” option to view all menus created on the site.
3. Select a menu, then click on the three vertical dots next to the menu name.
4. Click the “Delete” option.

If you want to keep the menu for future use but remove it from your site, you can remove the Navigation block from Appearance → Editor. Learn how to remove a block.

On sites with classic themes, you can remove menu items using WP-Admin by following these steps:

1. Go to Appearance → Menus.
2. Next to Select a menu to edit, choose the menu from the dropdown and click the “Select” button.
3. Click the “Delete Menu” link that appears at the bottom left corner.

On sites with classic themes, you can remove menu items using the Customizer by following these steps:

1. Go to Appearance → Customize → Menus.
2. Click on the menu you wish to delete.
3. Scroll below the menu items and click the “delete menu” option.
4. Click the “Save Changes” button when you’re done.
