Bio
Since 2005 I've lived and worked the vast majority of the time away from my family and friends in the US...and right from the start my friends and family asked "how will we know where you are and what you're doing?" So to keep friends, family and colleagues visually up to speed with where I am and what I'm seeing, I've been throwing photos and the occasional text up on the blog ever since. And I am SO grateful for all my viewers who comment, and look at the photos, and seem to appreciate what I'm doing! Thanks! Please let me know what you like, what you'd like to see more of or less of, and so on -- since I tend to go to a new work environment every other year or so, it's great to have some continuity and sense of connections that remain. :-)
I alternate between extended field assignments with MSF, Medecins sans Frontieres (aka doctors without borders), and down time visiting friends and family in the US and around the world. I'm a visual person, and I try with this blog to show small glimpses of the beautiful, educational, challenging and interesting places and people I'm meeting and working with. I also sometimes wax poetic and pedantic on the kookiness of America and American politics in general, but I hope the photos will still carry you over any text that gets too long.
If you're curious you can scan through past entries and see photos and stories from many countries on most continents. Thanks for reading the blog and giving me any feedback and suggestions you have. At the very bottom of the page, you'll find a few links: to follow the blog & get notification any time I post something new, to see what posts have been most popular the last couple days, and an archive that allows you to call up past months from the beginning, one at a time. Most entries from before August 2010 show up best in their original format at paulbrockmann.blogspot.com - feel free to link over there for older entries if you're curious. I think it's still up and active.
Drop a note if you feel so inclined: generous and helpful comments are always welcome. Peace.
Since some friends old and new are curious about the work I’ve been doing, I’ve decided I’ll start a running log here of all the highly-public links I can share so that, if you’d like to hear about the work in other media (radio, TV, etc.) you can check it out. Generally it’ll be most recent first, oldest last…
