Bio
hi our names are Rob Hawlor and Dawn Jones, we are both from wakefield in west yorkshire and we need your help....
On Jan 28th 2010 we will be embarking on an epic fundraising challenge……. we will be trekking to the Roof of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world (5895m).
We will be flying into Nairobi then taking a 7 hour bus ride to Tanzania.
The 5 day trek to the top of Kilimanjaro will commence the following day.
Day 1 and 2 We will trek through tropical rain forest delightful 30 degrees C
Day 3 Acclimatisation day and temperatures dropping.
Day 4 We will be trekking over baron moonscape to camp at 4700m.
Day 5 Today we will trek for 16 hours.
We will set off at midnight, trek for 6 hours to Gilman’s Point (5680m) and wait on the edge of the volcanic crater for sunrise!!
We then continue across the snow, around the rim for another 2 hours for the final push to Uhuru Peak (5895m)!!
It’s all down hill from there on in!
We will start our decent and reach our starting point over the next 2 days and straight back to Nairobi for our flight home.
Every 6 hours a child is born with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is the most commonly diagnosed physical condition in the UK, and occurs around the time of birth when part of the brain fails to develop properly. It can happen to any child. Scope is the largest charity in the UK working with people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers.
Scope is only able to reach 1 in 4 people who need help. With your support Scope will reach more people.
Any donation will help us to reach our self imposed target of £7000, and help Scope achieve its goal that disabled people achieve equality.
Although it may seem early to be sending out for sponsorship, we have to have all funds in by the end of November this year. The earlier we reach our target the quicker we can concentrate on our training
