Bio
I was born in Lexington Ky into a family with a horticulture tradition that dates back to the 1700's in France. My great-great-great grandfather Francis Xavier Hillenmeyer came to America in 1838 after training at the Baumann Nurseries. Since that time our family has continually been involved in the horticulture industry here in Lexington.
I was raised in Lexington till going away to The McCallie School in Chattanooga TN. After graduating I worked with Don Shadow who is one of the nations premiere horticulturists. From here I traveled to New Zealand to work as the horticulturist on a farm and interned at a perennial nursery. My next trip took me to western Turkey where I worked for a year at the well known Karaca Arboretum. I have now returned to Lexington where I have started my own garden design firm in 2001. Since then I have had the opportunity to continue to travel the world and the US studying garden design and horticulture. I currently have the great honor of serving on the Landscape Division Board of the American Nursery and Landscape Association.
