wordpress websites and .ie domains
-
I have a registered .ie (Ireland) domain, and want to know if I purchase a WordPress website theme, can I link the .ie domain to my new wordpress website? Or to phrase it differently: Can I have my own .ie domain address on WordPress.com?
If this is possible can someone please post a link to instructions suitable for a two year old?? :)
thanks,
SimonThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Two year old?? Well you need to be 13 to have your own site so how about I try for 13? :)
If you want an .ie domain you need to purchase it outside WordPress.COM. Then you map it to your blog here with these instructions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
You will also need a zone record added for an .ie domain name BEFORE – you do the domain mapping you should be able to add the zone record here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/dns-zone-records/
Good luck
PS – it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet and your site will be a bit unstable in that time and you will be the last one to see the changes.

Sure, you can map it to any WordPress.com blog, I just need to know the exact domain name so I can add a zone record for you first.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies.
my domain name is http://www.simonbates.ie
what exactly is a zone record?Simon

I have manually added a zone record for your domain.
A zone record tells the registrar, “No, really, it’s okay to point the domain there.” Zone records are not required for .com, .org, .net, or .me domains.
You should now be able to map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
