WordPress Isn't Letting Me Choose Sub Domains Again

  • Once again I’m having major issues with WordPress, in this case regarding picking subdomains for a blog. I’m trying to grab the blog url http://www.brighidsblindbard.poetry.blog or http://www.brigidsblindbard.poetry.blog if the first one isn’t available.

Sadly, WordPress isn’t allowing me to choose poetry.blog, or any of the ones connected to .blog again. It’s not even allowing me to choose via the app on my IPhone. Every single time I try typing one of the above urls to create a blog, it mashes it so it’s something like brighidsblindbardpoetryblog.wordpress.com, which isn’t most certainly not what I want. Please help!

I’m so disapointed that it’s starting to do with the app as well.

  • I’m not sure that the .blog subdomains are still available. I can no longer create a free site with an address of my choosing. I am constantly given a new site with the same address of my current site along with umpteen numbers. This new “flow” is in keeping with the bizarre way that everything works…or rather doesn’t really work…. here. This thread is tagged for staff assistance.

  • Hi there,

It looks like this might be an oversight with the current site creation process at https://wordpress.com/new. I’ve reported it to our developers to take a look at that.

But meanwhile, the old site creation process at https://wordpress.com/start/site/ is still available, and if you search for the .blog subdomain you want there you should be able to select it.

Alternatively, you can also go directly to the landing page for the .blog you want, in this case, https://poetry.blog/. If you click the button on that page to create your site, you’ll also be able to select a poetry.blog subdomain.

Let me know if you run into any trouble with this.
