Web Address Problems
-
Hello I have noticed a problem with WordPress. I have helped around seven people with their web address problem who didn’t know they had a web address problem. When you tap on their name to go to their site in comments and such, it sends you to some site that doesn’t exist. This is because of the setting under “account settings” and “web address.” People are misspelling or typing their web address into the box wrong and then it doesn’t lead to their site. Not a single person knew this was a problem, but it was obviously affecting the traffic on their site. Is a way to force that web address to actually match up with yours without manually fixing it? If not, that setting needs to be changed or people need to be made aware that it can happen.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There’s not a way to force that, and it’s a matter of preference. They simply need to know they need to use the correct website address in their personal preferences. I like that this is not forced, as I have many sites under my one account. I’ve chosen to use a site not hosted here as my web address, and I would not be able to do that under your suggestion.
As someone who clicks on everything, I’ve never had a problem with finding this. Are you thinking that there should be some suggestion to walk through where to find things in accounts as like an onboarding for new users?

Yes, I don’t mean it has to be forced, but people just need to know that it can be an issue. All the people I talked with were new and didn’t even know it existed. They were really upset that people couldn’t easily click on their site (besides in the reader) and I had to explain how to fix it.
