Unable to find Advanced Dashboard Settings under Account Settings.

  • Since Calypso and WP-Admin sidebars were comined into one, I need to use the Show Advanced Dashboard Settings to return to the previous capability where I could select Appearance > Menus and then add a new post, and then click and drag it up to where it belongs. But I can no longer find Show Advanced Dashboard Settings using WP-Admin.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi there!

That option was removed. If you want to access WP-admin, you can follow the steps from here:
    https://wordpress.com/support/dashboard/.

    I hope that helps :)

  • I tried the suggestion to change to the Classic View (WP Admin) but that did not return the ability to click and drag new posts up into the correct menu position.

The problem I am having is that when I now add a post to a menu, I select Reorder which allows me to move that post up into the menus. I can move it fairly easily to the main heading I want, but I now have over 100 posts in the sub-heading to that main heading. When I make the new post a sub-heading as well, it is at the bottom of the sub-heading list. I must then use the up arrow key over 100 times to move it up to the top of the sub-headings.

Is there another way to accomplish this?

  • Oof, clicking an arrow 100 times definitely doesn’t sound like fun.
However, you do not need to change the dashboard to be able to move the menu items around (sorry if I misunderstood your initial question).

If I log into your account, go to Appearance>Customize>Menus, I can easily move a post up, down, or create dropdown submenus:

Is this not what you see on your end? Could you share more details on what happens when you try to move an item by dragging and dropping?
