Twitter Timeline widget not appearing on my blog

  • The twitter timeline widget won’t appear on my blog despite the fact I believe I have taken all the correct steps for it to appear there. It always used to be there but now it has disappeared. How can I get it back?

  • How long did you wait for the data from Twitter which is, of course, cached, to update before posting here?

  • If you are not successful then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. • On an unrelated matter, Modularity Lite is an older retired theme. Retired themes do not support all wordpress.COM features, therefore, the recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do.

The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
    See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

  • On another and also unrelated issue you are spamdexing ie. tag spamming and that has serious consequences.

    Go to this post https://fortheloveofboro.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/what-would-pushing-the-boat-out-to-bag-belgium-ace-buy-boro-2/

These are the combined categories and tags you assigned to that single post:

May 9, 2014 | Categories: Debating Boro | Tags: Adam Reach, Aitor Karanka, Albert Adomah, Andy Halliday, ben gibson, blackpool, Bolton, Bolton Wanderers, Boro, Cameron Park, Championship, chelsea, connor ripley, Curtis Main, Daniel Ayala, Danny Graham, dean whitehead, Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, Emmanuel Ledesma, Frazer Richardson, George Friend, Grant Leadbitter, Hull City, Jacob Butterfield, Jason Steele, Jayson Leutwiler, Jonathan Woodgate, jozsef varga, Justin Hoyte, Kei Kamara, Kenneth Omeruo, Lee Tomlin, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Luke Williams, Marvin Emnes, MFC, Middlesbrough, Middlesbrough FC, Mustapha Carayol, Nathaniel Chalobah, Real Madrid, Rhys Williams, Richard Smallwood, ritchie smallwood, Seb Hines, Stuart Parnaby, sunderland, Swansea, Swansea City, Tomas Mejias, Tony Mowbray

All reasons for non-appearance of posts on Topics pages can be found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts

The combined total of categories and tags on any post must not exceed 15 or it will not display on Categories and Tags pages and in the WordPress.COM Reader.

As you have assigned a combined total that exceeds 15 Categories/Tags to your posts, you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal of the excess categories and/or tags note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.

Be aware that you ought to be more concerned about your posts not appearing and being well ranked on Google and Bing SERPS (search results pages) than not appearing in the Reader and on the WordPress.com Topics pages, because it’s search engines that send a significant flow of traffic to blogs and they can and do choose to bury your content where the sun don’t shine for that.

The rule of thumb is to assign to your posts the least, not the most, combined number of only relevant categories and tags that accurately describe the individual post content. And, you never assign the same keyword or keyword phrase as both a category and a tag. For tips on tagging see > http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2013/03/15/quick-blog-post-tagging-tips/
