Twenty Twenty alignment of blocks reset in editor

  • Hello, this is a new thread for the issues mentioned in this now closed thread.

A few days ago this issue came back allthough now it’s not just the cover block but the Layout/Columns Block are affected too.
I posted some screenshots on github.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The GitHub issue you commented on is closed, so it’s not being monitored any more. Thanks for the screen shots, though. Those are helpful.

You’re seeing that in the editor because you have a Spacer block with a height of almost 300px added to the top of the left column:

It appears more pronounced in the editor, because the editor has a narrower content area than the site itself, but if you view the site in a browser and resize the browser window, you’ll see the same thing there:

You’ll notice the actual space remains the same. But as the images in the right-hand column resizes to adjust to the screen size, they appear to move up, causing the space to become more noticeable. It’s that same space, at the same size, that you’re seeing in the editor.

Additionally, I notice that while your cover block is full-width, your Layout Grid block which contains the columns is not, which further contributes to this:

Can you check if switching that to full-width fixes things for you?

  • Hey @kokkieh I thank you for your in depth explanation. Setting all the Layout Grid Blocks to full-width fixed the issue. I can assure you that I haven’t changed anything and some change on the theme must have lead to the width getting reset on those blocks. I used the spacer so the Text on the left isn’t stuck on the top. It’s not ideal and I need to find a workaround soon.
Thanks again for helping me fix the issue 👍
