transferring my self-hosted WordPress website to WordPress.com
-
It has been more then 36 hours since I have initiated my self-hosted WordPress website to WordPress.com and I still cannot see any result. What is the status of this and when should I expect that. My goal is to see if the site works and if so, to buy a package.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I’ve tagged this for Staff to reset the importer for you.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-self-hosted/
Meanwhile, you might want to review the content of your current self-hosted site to check that it doesn’t contain any flash embeds or scripts, which are restricted here.

Thanks for your response.
My import contains a WooCommerce plugin. Is that may cause an issue with the import?
-
My best guess is that the only thing you can import here is the .XML file containing posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags and suchlike. Images will come over once that import has taken place and the site they are being imported from is online and public. I’m not sure what happens when trying to upload a file to WPcom that contains references to other things (like plugins), but Staff will be able to tell you (and me). We’ll have to be patient and wait for them to reply.
If you haven’t yet, you’ll want to read those support docs I linked to and the last one on com-vs-org will give you an idea if this is going to work out for you.

Hi @ggggpppp,
I went ahead and reset the importer for you. I’m not quite sure why it was stuck. Plugins on your self-hosted site shouldn’t cause an issue. Can you give this import another try?

Hi guys,
So I got an email from WordPress.com telling me the import was finished successful.
The result (https://pools660.wordpress.com/) does not match the original site (www.blueblue.co.il).
Can you please assist?

@ggggpppp – It won’t be a one-to-one transfer (copy/paste) from your self-hosted site.
If you take a look at the first Support doc I linked to in my above answer https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/transferring-my-self-hosted-wordpress-website-to-wordpresscom?replies=7#post-2608404 it says:
The migration process transfers your content (comments, tags/categories, text, photos, and other embedded media) to your WordPress.com site.
The rest you need to set up directly, including selecting a theme from any of the free or premium themes found here: https://wordpress.com/themes/
As far as e-commerce with payments, there currently isn’t an e-commerce option available, but we hope there will be soon.
Again, I suggest that you read the two additional Support documents I mentioned in my above reply to see if WordPressdotcom is a good fit for your needs. Judging by your current content, you may wish to remain with a self-hosted site.

@ggggpppp—Please see @justjennifer’s response. If any of the comments, tags/categories, posts, pages, or media items failed to transfer over, please let us know. Otherwise, you will need to manually configure the theme layout and other options. Those are not imported with the traditional import.
