Time limit to show pages

  • I would like to know if it is possible to put a time limit some pages. The idea is that I limit the time the page is available to be read. After this time it would then be archived. For example, I have a page that deals with an issue relating to a computer operating system update. This will only affect people for a couple of weeks and so only needs to be displayed for that short time. Is there a way that after the end of May, t would ‘auto-archive’ without any need for further input. I know it sounds a lot, but it was just an idea I had. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there, it’s possible to do what you wish, but only manually.

Once the time limit date has been reached, you can manually change the visibility of your page to Private following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-visibility/ This will remove the page from Public view and only Admins and Editors on your site will be able to see it. This will not, however, immediately remove that page from search engine returns. It may take between 4-6 weeks for that to happen.

If you don’t want the page to be visible on the site, but still accessible to search engines, you could remove the link from the menu, but not change its visibility.

I see you are using a Custom Menu Widget on your above site, so make sure to remove the link from there regardless.

Let me know if you have any other question about this.

I also want to let you know that as it seems you have a paid plan upgrade, you are also eligible for direct assistance by Staff via live chat or email when you post at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

  • Thank you. Changing the page to Private is the route I’ll take.
