Oh my goodness, I accidentally changed the them on my blog, when I was trying out new themes for another new blog that I’m starting, and I don’t know how to change it back. Help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To activate a theme, visit Appearance -> Themes in your site’s dashboard, search for your desired theme, and click the Activate button on that theme.
For more information on themes, see this support article: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/

I’m not sure you understand the severity of the situation here ariwinokur. I’ve had my theme for years, but I was trying to activate a theme on a new site I’m in the process of creating, and I unintentionally changed the theme on my original site.

I completely understand what you are trying to do. Go to http://presentlytravelling.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php and search for and activate the theme you were previously using for the site. This will change the site back to the theme you want.

Ok. That was a bit of information I did not have before. I have tagged this thread for attention from Staff. Please have patience as they work to get to your issue and resolve it.

Hey timethief;
The name of the theme is Spring Loaded. I tell ya, it’s hard getting old. My hands move faster than my brain sometimes.
-
There are about 80 retired themes which in theory are available for use on blogs that have used theme before but not on new blogs. Lately there have been threads wherein bloggers report they cannot use the retired themes they used before.
Unfortunately, it now looks like when a theme is retired, it is no longer available to anyone, not just on new sites that have been set up. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/where-can-i-find-the-semicolon-magazine-theme?replies=6#post-2304116

Here’s a list of the 80 recently retired themes. Spring Loaded is on it so I suggest choosing another free two column theme. See here for 129 Free Two Columns WordPress Themes https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/two-columns/?sort=free

You mean my blog is gone? That’s four years of my life. There must be some way to get it back. I know that the code for this theme is still available on the internet. I found it one time. How can one wrong click make an entire blog irrecoverable?
-
No your blog is not gone. The content is still there. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.
Note that every theme will have a detailed theme description page with set up instructions and a live demo site page that you can consult. Here’s an example:

@ presentlytravelling,
I previously had the Spring Loaded theme activated on my principal site, and it is still available for activation. The advice given above by ariwinokur is correct:
I completely understand what you are trying to do. Go to http://presentlytravelling.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php and search for and activate the theme you were previously using for the site. This will change the site back to the theme you want.
The following link will take you directly to that theme in your Manage Themes page, where you can switch back to it by clicking on the Activate button: https://presentlytravelling.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?search=Spring%20Loaded.

Thank you timethief, for your help, but I’m devastated by my stupidity. My blog will never be the same under a new theme, and my old brain doesn’t work well with these kinds of things. I was going to start a new blog, to continue where my original one left off, but I know it would have taken me ages, just to do that. I’ll see if I can find another theme, if that’s my only option but, like I said, it will never be what I already had.

musicdoc1 You are a lifesaver!!! It worked!!! I felt like I had lost my best friend, and now I have it back. Wow!! What a relief. I didn’t quite understand what ariwinokur was trying to tell me, but I want to thank all of you for helping me get my site back. Now, back to the task of setting up my new site, with a new theme. I will be extra careful this time. Thanks again all of you. You made my day.

I’m glad you got this resolved in the end. I will try to be more clear in the future when giving directions. Please let me know which part of my instructions confused you so I can improve it next time.

To be honest ariwinokur, I had it stuck in my mind that you didn’t understand that my theme was no longer available and, when I clicked on that link you provided, It looked like it just took me back to the ‘new’ themes page, where I had already been. However, in my panic, I didn’t look carefully enough, because the themes were loading slowly, and I could not see that the Spring Loaded theme was right there in front of me. It was not your fault at all. Your information was correct. The only way I might have gotten the message is if you insisted that the information was indeed correct, and forced me to go back a check it again. Or, if you mentioned in your instructions that this link would, in fact, take me back to the Spring Loaded theme. This is what caught my eye when musicdoc1 replied to me. At that point, I knew that musicdoc1 knew what I was asking, as you did also.
Bottom line is, you all did a great job in helping me get my theme, and blog, back, and I really appreciate that.
