Theme with rotating banner image
-
With WordPress theme folks rolling out one new theme after another, it would be nice if they also give us (applicable to all existing themes too) an option to enable rotating banners. Max out the width of each respective theme and for a given height allow us to format up to 5 images or so. This would be quite cool I think.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for this or any other feature to be added to existing themes.
Looking at the recently-introduced themes, the trend* is toward customizability. The is no trend toward, or sign of, revisiting old themes.
* I suspect it’s a policy, i.e. things aren’t just happening this way, that’s the plan. I think it’s a good one. I don’t want wp.com to mess with theme: it’s old, I customized it myself. I’d rather wp.com time spent on themes was spent on new, customizable themes.

This is what the search results for rotating header images produces http://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=rotating+header+site%3Aen.forums.wordpress.com&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B2GGGL_enCA205CA208&ie=UTF-8

Just looking at this page, starting with “You must know this” and “you must have this” I give up.

Do you mean something like this?
Reload your browser or go to a different page and you should see different header images.

Thank you, Jennifer.
One of my evil projects I’m working on (whenever I have the time), is to provide a service that would allow you to have random header images for your blog.
All you would need to do is upload the header images you want to be randomly displayed on your blog… and that’d be it.
There’s a small catch, though… you’d have to have the CSS upgrade for it to work.
Because of my other (freelance) projects, I don’t know when I’ll have a beta version for testing, but as soon as I do, I’ll let you guys know.

Even though there is no theme here that has rotating banners their is a theme called “Twenty Ten” where you cane have a different header for each post and pages. you can find out more info about here » http://wp.me/pf2B5-15v
Quoted from the WP.com news blog
You can even use a different custom header image for each post by including a Featured Image when you publish a new post.
You can see the custom header option in action over at the demo blog found here » http://wp.me/MISd Just click on various posts and pages you will see the header change it’s image display!

@t3ck, yes, I’m using the Featured Image to have different headers on my PhotoImpact tutorial child pages. They used to reside as smaller “sub-headers” just under the title of the page, but I think they look much better this way.
But, what devblog is talking about is a whole ‘nuther animal.
@devblog-aw, heck. CSS upgrade you say? (kicks can) Still appreciated. :)

Thank you, Andrew.
Jennifer,
This might even work with the custom header (inline CSS) trick… but who knows for sure since Matt once said that certain(?) inline CSS would not work for those without the CSS upgrade… we’ll just have to wait and see.
