Text Overlay Capability
-
I think this greatly enhances the presentation of WordPress blogs if text overlay is permitted. That is, the ability to add text over an image. For instance, http://shimworld.wordpress.com/2007/05/28/nbt-lexus-golf-classics-2007/ there’s opportunity to include a caption that can be placed anywhere on an image.

Not sure what you mean. Please explain what kind of popup you’re talking about. Can you provide an example of where this actually occurs instead of where it should be?

Put in a “title” for the image, and then when you hover your mouse over the image the description will display for some web browsers.
You will have to do this in the raw html because the visual editor does not support it.
<img title="hello world" src="http://blahblah" alt="alternative text if images are disabled">

That what I was thinking but with the (darn annoying that I can’t get turned off on this PC) Snap popup, wouldn’t that come into play?

It’s not a pop-up that I am referring to. What I have in mind is a way of displaying text over an image with the ability of positioning that text anywhere on that image. This would work ONLY when user has chosen to display a FULL image instead of a thumbnail. It’s not a mouse-over popup but a feature that displays the text/caption when the blog loads .. if this feature means increased resource overheads or compromise the stability of WP then it may not be good idea.
