  Hi I need to switch my domain from squarespace to wordpress but dont want to lose my squarespace site while i am working on the wordpress site thank you!!

  Are you trying to move your website from Squarespace to WordPress.com? You can do it simply by exporting the content from your Squarespace website and importing it to your WordPress.com site. Here is the support page that will help you to do the needful: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-squarespace/. Using this method, you will not lose your Squarespace website and will be able to move it to WordPress.com smoothly.
