Stats
-
Good Afternoon,
We really like the statistics provided on number of views on our pages and posts on http://www.j-mas.com; however, we would also like to see the number of views of specific links such as PDF files. We sometimes distribute links to specific PDF files on the website using methods such as text messaging, which bypasses the page or post. Is there any way we can track the number of views for these specific links?
Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. Just to clarify, are you confirming that there is no existing feature for this?

This is what searching turned up.
PDF views are not counted as “Views” in your stats; they are included as Clicks for PDFs, so when folks view/download the PDF, that is not counted as a view. More on what doesn’t count as a view at http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

Hi @parentmas, to add a little more information to what Timethief gave you: while PDF clicks don’t count as “views” per se, they do count as clicks (if they clicked from your site), which you can view here:
https://wordpress.com/stats/month/j-mas.com
Scroll down to clicks, expand the section there, and you’ll see how many clicks you have for the different media items. (You’ll notice I set this to “month” so you’ll see more clicks at once.) I hope that helps!
