Hi there,
Our stats are not real time stats and take time to update. There are frequent fluctuations that most do not notice because we aren’t watching the process. For details see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ and note the views and viewers take hours to update.
Our stats are page view stats. But please do not assume that everyone who clicks a follow, like, share, reblog or comment link actually reads the post on your blog because odds are they may not.
Follow, like, share, reblog or comment clicks are not page views. In fact, follows, likes, shares, comments and reblogs are completely misleading when you are talking about page view stats.
Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com/Gravatar account who is logged into WordPress.com can “follow” your blog, “like”, “share” and “reblog” your posts and “comment” in several locations such as the Reader, without ever clicking into your blog and creating a single page view stat. Subscribers control how frequently they receive your posts (instantly, daily, weekly) and can comment without clicking into the blog.
Logged in visitors using a mobile can read the full post without creating a page view stat. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-reader-show-full-text?replies=31#post-1373606
You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here Dashboard > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed rather than to “full text”. That will compel followers who are not using mobiles to click into the blog to read the full post which will create a page view stat.
If you are sure your stats need to be investigated then you need to be specific and post details here so Staff know exactly which stats you are referring to when they get to this thread.
You can post screenshots and share them with Staff. You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots. Or you can use the WordPress.com guide I linked to and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it. Then type modlook into the sidebar tags of this thread for their attention.

Thanks for that, but I’ve operated this blog for over five years now, and know when something is amiss. 18 hours into today and after 2 posts, I’m recording hits of barely a quarter of what they were two days ago.
There is clearly something amiss: I get more hits than this on days normally if I don’t post. Still not recorded 400 hits today.
Cheers

I have never used the forums before, have no idea what that means and normally operate without seeking help

Will you please return to https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-is-my-stats-so-low?replies=6#post-2159208 answer raincoaster, and then wait for Staff help there? -
I’m not using GA. Is there any particular reason I’m being run around like this?
Cheers

I agree there is a problem. My stats are way down on what I’d expect today. I feel sure things are not being recorded.
My blog marketlavingtonmuseum.wordpress.com visitor stats are important. The chances of museum grants are based on visitor numbers in part. If I have to report a dramatic fall then finances may get to be a problem.Like brownhillsbob I think I know what to expect after some years of blogging but that doesn’t mean I understand anything too technical
I hope you can help.

You posted into two different threads on the same issue which others had already posted into. That’s why this seems to be a run around to you. Please only post to https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-is-my-stats-so-low?replies=6#post-2159208 after Staff respond to you in that thread.
Also know that there are millions of us bloggers and only 225 Staff members so patience is required when their assistance is being requested as it is in that thread.

I confirm you that yesterday the 4th of December, my statistics didn’t work properly. I would like to know if there is any possibility of updating? I left you the link to the post I’m talking about. http://treintamasdiez.wordpress.com/2014/12/04/el-famoso-chalk-paint/
I hope you can help -
My blogs statistics were not working well yesterday and it seems that today they still don’t work properly.
I’ve made several tests while I was not signed in and the “hits” has been not added.
All the times I did that sort of tests before the “hits” were immediately added in “Today Views” despite it take a bit of time the update in “All Time Views”.
