  • Hi there,

Do you mean you want to connect your existing domain to your WordPress.com site? Because if you buy your domain separately from the WordPress plan, you need to connect it to your WordPress.com site. Please follow this guidelines to help you properly map your domain and your WP site https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

The SSL certificate installation will then automatically proceed shortly after the connecting of domain, which may usually takes up 72 hours for the domain-site mapping to take effect. https://wordpress.com/support/domains/https-ssl/#why-is-my-site-missing-an-ssl-certificate.

    I hope this helps.

  • hi! yes this is the typical process but the domain has been connected few days ago and it is already more than 72 hours. the ssl is still not installed. any staff from wordpress.com can verify it. my domain is beyondbeans.com

  • yeah they really have the problem with api or their system about installing letsencrypt ssl to the connected sites. kind of bug maybe. it has been like this for years. when there is a dns issue of a domain that is trying to connect to the wordpress.com (be it in direct dns or using wp.com nameservers) the ssl host won’t resolve to the user’s domain and needs a manual re-issue of the ssl (even though the domain’s dns records has been already using wordpress.com for more than 72 hours).
