SSL Cert on Custom Subdomain

    Hi,

We setup a paid site and successfully mapped our custom subdomain xyz.example.com to site1.wordpress.com using CNAME. xyz.example.com has also been set as the primary domain in WordPress.com.

Navigating to xyz.example.com opens the site correctly, but it is throwing a NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID error.

This server could not prove that it is xyz.example.com; its security certificate is from *.wordpress.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.

May I please guidance on how to setup the SSL Cert for xyz.example.com to resolve the issue? The CNAME mapping has been up for about 36 hours.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi there!

We can check to see if something is preventing the SSL certificate. However, we need to know which account the subdomain is on. Could you log into the correct account and reply to this thread? If you don’t want to do that, you can also contact us (sites with a paid plan have access to email support).
