    WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

    Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.

    Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.

    In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.

    If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Hi there,

    I was able to map alimi.ng for you. You’ll still need to do a few things:

    1) Purchase the subscription here by renewing:
    https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades

    2) If you haven’t done so already, point the domain to our name servers:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

    3) After giving that a few hours to take effect, set the domain as primary under https://wordpress.com/my-domains

    After I paid for the premium plan which makes it free for me to map my website, I’m still being asked to pay $13 for the mapping subscription for alimi.ng Kindly help

    Hi,

    I used to have a wordpress.com blog which had domain mapping on it to make it point to http://www.alimi.ng

    Few days ago after I bought the domain from whogohost, I
    1) Cancelled the domain mapping feature on my wordpress.com account
    2) Created a wordpress.org account hosted by another hosting site
    3) Transferred my content from wordpress.com to wordpress.org

    The site was working fine.

    Today, when I go to my domain as a visitor I get a HTTP 500 Internal Server error message.

    Also, when I try to login to my wordpress.org account backend I get the message: Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please login and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. It also removes the www. as if it is still trying to go to my wordpress.com account.

    How do I solve this problem?

    And some selected network coverage still works perfectly well, while some brings out the error.

    Please help!

    If this hasn’t resolved itself by now, please check with your new host or look in the WordPress.org community forums for ideas: wordpress.org/support

    This sounds like your domain changes hadn’t completely settled, and the domain was pointed here for a moment. Please allow up to 72 hours for your domain’s settings to settle down, and if you’re still having trouble at that point, you’ll want to get in touch with the domain provider.
