Someone closed my account
-
I don’t know what’s happened but I attempted to log into my free WordPress website and it said my account has been closed. I didn’t close it. I have 2-3 sites on there being used as private blogs.
I can’t submit the ‘Account Recovery’ form because I don’t have a transaction ID – I only used the free version. I checked my email and couldn’t find an activation code. I’ve also had this account for at least 7 years, so I don’t know if I deleted it years ago. It wasn’t in my trash folder. I thought I set up the 2 factor authentication but must not have because I can’t find anything in my recovery email.
This account was really important to me and had a lot of private stories, like my son’s birth and some of the traumas I’ve been through.
I looked at the site profiler and the registrar is someone I’ve never even heard of. And the registered on date shows 2000, which isn’t right.
I don’t understand what’s happened or why, but this is really important to me.
Please, please help me recover my account.

What account and sites are you talking about? If someone would be able to close your wordpress.com account and/or sites, it would mean they have full access to your emailaccount as the owner gets an email stating the closure.

This is the website – birdsdontjustfly.wordpress.com – it’s a private blog. I don’t know how anything happened or why. All I know is it says my account is closed. I never closed the website nor did I get an email saying it was being closed.
I really just need it reactived. Like I mentioned, it has a lot of important information on the site. And this is the only place I put the information.
Someone please help!

I found the original activation link but when I put it in the recovery form, it says it’s invalid. Here’s the snapshot of that email from 2016.
The activation key is here: (redacted by staff)
The 2nd email below is me changing my account from the email (email visible only to moderators and staff) to (email visible only to moderators and staff), which is what it’s been since 2017. And that’s the account that is now closed for some reason.

Hi there!
I redacted the link and the screenshot from your post since this is a public forum, and it’s not secure to share those here. However, I can confirm that the account that owns the site birdsdontjustfly.wordpress.com has not been closed. The account is still active, as is the site.
Have you tried resetting your password using the email address you used on the other account? Assuming you have access to the email, that’s the best way to restore access to your account.
If you’re unable to reset the password or don’t have access to the email address, please send an email to passwordhelp@wordpress.com. Include all the details about the account so that our account recovery team can help you with this further. We are unable to help with account recovery issues here in the forums, so I won’t be able to assist you further with this. Please send an email.
Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

@aisajib thank you for your response! Although, this presents a new problem. When I try to log in or even reset my account, it says ‘Account Deleted’. I never deleted it, nor did I transfer ownership of my website. So if it shows an account holder that is not Chelsea Hamilton or Andy Rose (my pen name), then someone has hacked my account and stolen my websites (I believe there were 3, though I can only remember Birds Don’t Just Fly).
The site profiler shows some Mark Monitor as the registrar, which I’d never heard of until I googled it. This person or company absolutely does not own my site and I don’t know how they became listed as the registrar.
So how do I get this fixed?

The Site Profiler won’t be helpful in this case since you aren’t using a Custom domain.
What’s important is that you first log out of this account you are using to post to the forums (chelsearhamilton) before trying the the password reset or account recovery form.

@mojourner good to know, thanks! I have logged out and tried to log in with my other account, but it still tells me the account has been deleted/closed.

Can you share a screenshot with the account deleted/closed message? Please make sure the screenshot shows the username/email address entered.
I have checked again, and I can confirm that your account is still active. It was not canceled or deleted, and I believe it wasn’t hacked either. I suspect you’re attempting to log into a different account. That’s why a screenshot would be helpful for us to troubleshoot the issue.
Thanks!
