Site is not importing

    Hi,

    I have a free WordPress website.

    Before handing it off to someone else, I wanted to create a backup of the site in its current state.

    To do this, I went into my site’s general settings > Tools > Export.

    It exported a file.

    I then logged into a different WordPress account I have and did Settings > Tools > Import.

    I am being shown that all these files are being imported, that it will take a while, etc. It then says ‘Import Successful’ but when I check it…nothing happened. It didn’t import anything.

    Can anyone help? Why is this happening?

    Note:

    It’s just a standard / generic website on Website #2, even after “Importing” a website that took lots of time/energy to put toether.

    What I want is to have a copy of Website #1 on Website 2, privately held, as a backup.

    Is this not possible?
