i need to know how to create a sidebar next to my homepage for which i can feature an excerpt from my blog. can anyone tell me how to do this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please link you username to your blog so it can be quickly found. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.
Is this the blog in question? http://whenathirdworldcamewest.wordpress.com/
If so it already has a sidebar and if you wish to place widgets in the sidebar see here to make your choices > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/widgets-sidebars/The theme called Bueno does have what you are describing. Bueno will feature both your images and your recent posts. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/Bueno/

hi
i created a side bar menu but the page is still showing on top header menu bar. How can i get rid of the top header menu bar?

Create a custom menu and don’t put anything in it, OR change themes to one without a tabbed header.

hi thank you all so much for your help! i linked my username to my blog so that it could be quickly found. Currently my home page does not have a sidebar. The sidebar is under my “blog” tab. I set it up this way. HOwever, I am trying to create a sidebar on the right hand side of home page whereby I can add in excerpts from my blog. is it possible to do this?

There is no blog linked to your username but I did locate the blog here http://lizkitchens.wordpress.com/ Blix is a theme that displays a sidebar only on the main page for posts. You have set a static front page and the sidebar appears on your “Blogs” page.
