Sidebar widgets not working w/ Katsuna theme
-
Hello, I just switched my website (https://glenjm.wordpress.com/) over to the theme Katsuna. The sidebar widgets work perfectly fine for every page except for the Home page where they mysteriously disappear.
For the Home page, there are two different options for Page Attributes, “Default” and “Full-Width Page”. I’ve tried switching between the two, but the widgets still won’t show up.
If anyone could help me figure this out, I would be oh-so thankful.

I think you are referring to the Karuna theme.
Widgets
Sidebar
Karuna has a one-column or two-column layout. Add widgets to the sidebar area for a traditional two-column blog, or leave it blank for a sleek one-column style.Every theme has a detailed theme description page and this one is at https://wordpress.com/themes/karuna/ That’s where set up instructions for it are found. The live demo site is at https://karunademo.wordpress.com/
You must be logged in under the exact same username that registered the site to be able to access the site. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Replace NAME_OF_BLOG in that URL with the actual name of your blog.

P.S. Be aware also that widgets have widget visibility settings that determine which pages they display on. https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility
-
I believe that there may be something broken in the Karuna theme, as there is no difference between the page layouts “Default” and “Full Page Width” when working on a Home page.
Very strange.

Hi there,
If you set a page as the front page in Karuna the page is automatically set to that theme’s home page template, and any other template settings for that page is ignored. That is how this theme is designed to work. Karuna’s front page does not display a sidebar.
You can see what will display on any page set as static front page in Karuna in the theme’s support document:

You’re welcome :)
If having the sidebar is something crucial, you can use the filters on https://wordpress.com/themes to look for other multi-column themes. You might find something else that will work.
