Show Single Latest Post on Static (Home) Page
-
I would like to have my homepage show ONLY the LATEST post from the blog (/archives).
In other words:
- Blog is published to /archive
- Home is an empty static page
I want all blog posts to go to /archive (blog) but always have the LATEST blog post be the only content on the home page (a static page).
There must be a super easy straight forward way to do this but I can’t find it anywhere.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks. I have no idea why this isn’t the most obvious / intuitive / trivial thing ever.

Looks like you’ve already done what I was going to suggest, which is:
In the Customizer‘s Homepage Settings panel, set:
– A page called Home as your static front page
– A page called Blog or Archive as your posts pageOn the static homepage, use the Display Posts shortcode to display the most recent post, for example:
[display-posts posts_per_page="1"]
If either of you needs further help, just let me know.

Cheers. Trying to get it to appear as a post not a bullet (ul). Any thoughts on how to get it to appear normally? I tried the wrapper=“h1” property of the display-posts short code but had no effect.
