    I through woocommerce was free to use. why is WordPress trying to charge me $18/month?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

    Is hould probably add some context here, there’s two types of WordPress, the first is WordPress.com, which is where you’re able to purchase a plan and plans afford different features. The second is the self-hosted WordPress, where the WordPress software is downloaded and installed on a hosting provider.

    It’s free to create a basic site on WordPress.com, but in order to be able to use a plugin (WooCommerce) with WordPress.com, the site must be on the business plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
