Sela, featured images, and grid page template.

  • Hi all, quick question that I can’t find the answer to.

    On my site, I have a grid page, and each of the child pages has a featured image that is 1200w x 250h. Why does it look so pixelated on the child page, and why is it cropped weirdly on the grid page? I know that the width has to be >1180, which I satisfy. I am on a retina MacBook if that matters.

    On the Sela demo, the grid page shows the same image as the child page, uncropped.

  • Hi,

    I know that the width has to be >1180, which I satisfy.

    The images of the child pages corresponding to the top three items in your grid page are of the following sizes:

    Only one of the three is of sufficient width.

  • Why does it look so pixelated on the child page

    Your original images look a bit pixillated/blurry already; I don’t see any difference in image quality between the originals and the child/grid pages:

    In terms of the cropping, as musicdoc1 mentioned, some of your images don’t meet the theme’s minimum size. Try uploading larger images and see if that does the trick.

  • @ kathrynwp,

    The first two images in the child pages that I mentioned above have been changed. Previously, the image quality of each was not high, but not as low as it is presently. The third image is unchanged.
    I copied the images as I found them yesterday. Here are snaggy screen shots of the first two:
    1. “SHMUP – 2015, C++” — http://snag.gy/YkmRF.jpg
    2. “Color Hacker — 2015, AS3” — http://snag.gy/NKCer.jpg

    The second has evidently been expanded and cropped from the same file image, while the first has been replaced by an more pixelated image (rotated 90 degrees) from the same game. In each case the quality has been lowered.
