    The search bar on my page is inexplicably missing. I need that rectified, but have been unable to figure out what to do. Thank you.

    Hi! Your theme looks like it was retired a while back; the search bar in the theme demo site looks like it’s a retired search widget as well – I can’t find that older type of search widget. There’s some general information about current widgets here:

    What I would suggest for this is instead adding a newer search block, which performs the same function.

    If you head to Appearance > Customize > Widgets > Header Right, then you should get to the widgets management for that top right area (which is where I see the search in the theme info: https://wordpress.com/theme/modern-news/).

    Once you’re there, you can insert a Search block, and ensure that it’s aligned to the right:

    This should get the search bar back for you! It is worth considering changing to a newer theme in general – as your theme isn’t getting updates to keep it in line with the WordPress software, we can’t guarantee that it’ll keep working without bugs in the future; but for now the search widget should do what you need.
