screen options
-
I’m trying to set a feature image (so my facebook posts have a thumbnail). On the upper right of my blog I see the Help drop down option, but not the screen option. How do I get to it?

Know that we have no control over the images that Twitter, Facebook or any other social networks chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.

thanks. I was just on that page. The image shown on that page, with the red arrow… I’ve located that on my screen, but it only has the “help” tab.
Also, it’s ok if I don’t have control of the image – currently, No image is showing up and I’d like to have at least one.

Pilcrow is an older retired theme. Retired themes do not support all wordpress.COM features, therefore, the recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do.
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
Find Themes Supporting Featured Images- View all themes that support featured images or visit the showcase and click Find a Theme → Features, then check the Featured Images box. https://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#find-themes-supporting-featured-images

I just found one page that has the “Screen options” tab. weird it shows up sometimes but not others. I’ll investigate to see if I need to switch templates too. Thanks so much!
