Add topic to favorites
I’ve been trying to write a new post, but every time it autosaves, an error message comes up at the top of the page that says “Saving of draft failed.” I have logged out and logged in again, enabled and disabled third-party cookies, etc – nothing works. I’m using a new computer, and it says that my connection to the site isn’t “secure” – could that be the cause of the problem? Help!

Saving of draft failed: I am writing a new post, but it keeps failing. The only difference I can think of is that my computer had to be wiped clean and all the software reinstalled. I did have an issue with another software, saying my computer was not secure because it was not recognized as the same one I had been using. What can I do now?

You are describing either a browser related issue of a connectivity issue.

Make sure you are running an up to date browser version found at https://browsehappy.com Try clearing your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and see the tips here https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

If you are not successful please provide this specific info:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.

I had the same issue, some of the posts I use are re-post from other sites, of which I have permission. Anyhow, what was happening is my plugin -WordFence- was blocked by the firewall for XSS: Cross Site Scripting in POST body. So if you are using WordPress, go to your live traffic in a New Tab, and then click the post button, in a couple seconds you can see that transaction show up on your live traffic page.

If it is red, then you have a problem, you can use the Whitelist option but that might make your site less safe, I am not that good to know about that.

Also, I actually had several of the WordPress.com IP Addresses blocked from accessing the site, as dummy me, I did not know that United States Ashburn, United States was the home of the server farm. So, also using the live traffic, I figured out the IP addresses I needed to unblock.

It can sure be frustrating, especially when you are running in the squirrel cage
