RSS Feed

I am trying to add a blogroll widget to my wp.com blog. The site I want to add to my blog is The Chronicle of Higher Education. Their URL is here: http://chronicle.com/section/Home/5. Why won’t their URL stick? Thank you. http://www.screencast.com/t/XVs5oWw63GB4.

Are you referring to the RSS widget?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/
If you are then that URL is not a RSS Feed URL. It looks like this is a web page, not a feed. I looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn’t find one.You create a Blogroll in your Dashboard http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/add-a-blogroll-link/ and display it by installing the Links widget. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/links-widget/

Thank you, timethief. Yes, I am referring to the RSS Widget. I have inserted three other strictly URLs into the feed and they show up. No problem. See “The Blogs I Follow” in the widget column. http://sangabrieltutor.wordpress.com/. At the Chronicle of Higher Ed’s site, I cannot find that standard RSS feed of an orange button with the three layered wifi waves.
When you say that you “. . . looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn’t find one,” where did you look?
It looks like I am confusing Blogroll with RSS feed. For an RSS Feed, I can just use Google Alerts. I would like to have a Blogroll, though I do not like all of the added categories that it comes with–Get Inspired, Discuss, Get Support, WordPress.com News, & Learn WordPress.com. C:\Users\mwalg_000\Desktop\Blogroll_2015-01-09_1255.png. By themselves they are excellent resources; it’s just that I don’t want those resources visible to my viewers.

I did some more searching Please go to this page to locate the relevant RSS link for the section you want http://chronicle.com/sitemap

Nice. I found an RSS link that works. Though for some reason that link does not show up in the “Blogs I Follow” list.
Thank you for your valuable time and great efforts!

Oh, it does show up! I spoke too soon. It was only after the 3rd refresh that it now is visible. Thank you again.

Thank you so much, timethief. Was curious about one development in wordpress.com. I notice that when I embed a video into a WP.com page or post, regardless of the size that I set for it, it always appears in the publicized view of its original size from YouTube where I copied it, around 640 x 315.
Thank you.

Well it cannot be sized any wider then the maximum displayed content width in any post or page in your blog.
Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels):
The main column width is 610 except in the full-width layout where it’s 788. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/liquorice/ -
I see. Well, I actually resized it down to 400 x 315 well within the size limits. But my resizing down did not stick. It didn’t stick last night in a different page either. So now that’s two incidents where my resize is not taking hold. And I can’t figure out why it’s not. Thank you, timethief.
