Remove link hover text
-
Hello – I am wondering if someone can help me remove the yellow box of text this appears when you hover over a post anywhere on my website. It’s especially annoying on the post pages.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I previously posted this re: your ToS Violation in another thread but you have yet to respond by restoring the footer credit links.

Custom Design – Frequently Asked Questions
May I remove credit links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com’, theme, font, or toolbar links?
All WordPress.com bloggers are required to maintain the credit links, even our VIP bloggers. Please do not hide or alter text or links for the footer credits or the toolbar. Modifying the style of the footer text (i.e. colors and font size) is fine as long as it’s still readable. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions -

My account was already locked and I emailed Bryan back to take a look and make sure it was ok.

I am using Firefox 26 and I could not see them when I first posted minutes ago. Now they are there.

No sorry I don’t help with CSS editing. That upgrade comes with Staff support but another Volunteer will probably respond before they do.

@michellekwiatkowski, I’m not seeing any yellow hover colors on your site at http://hisanddhers.wordpress.com/. I checked several of the posts and am not seeing it.
If you are talking about the opacity that changes when you hover over a post, try adding the following, which will remove that.
.imgwrap { opacity: 1 !important; }

Alternatively, do you mean the tooltips as in this screenshot?
If so, those are triggered from the presence of ‘title’ attribute on various links which browsers will show a tooltip for. I’m not aware of a way to remove them via CSS I’m afraid unless someone else does.
-
Yes the tool tips! I’m trying to remove them – or at least remove the awful yellow squares. I have worked on other websites before and programmers have removed them for me. I’m sure there is a way around them I just don’t know how.
-
So there are two ways I know of to remove tooltips and unfortunately neither of them are possible on WordPress.com since they require either PHP coding or Javascript code I’m afraid. If anyone knows of an alternative they’ll hopefully chime in!

I assume this is a custom menu link, if so you can change the title attribution in the menu settings under appearance in the dashboard.
If you can find ‘His and Hers’ in one of the menus, click to open its drop down menu then it will say His and Hers in the title attribute box, delete that and that should sort out your problem -
johnconners is correct. The title attribute for the header image is hard coded into the theme and cannot be changed here at WordPress.com. If the tooltip were in a custom menu item, then baxter100’s advice might work, but it isn’t a custom menu item in this case.
Completely unrelated, but it might look a little nicer if you centered the footer text with something like:
.copytext { width: 100%; }
Aside: the tooltips you’re describing are basically an echo of the link’s title attribute — how they are displayed is determined by the browser. To eliminate them, you would need access to the PHP source code for the theme to remove the title attribute. It is considered somewhat bad form to remove them though, as removing the title attribute breaks accessibility standards.
To get full access to edit PHP code for a theme, you would need to switch away from WordPress.com to purchase web hosting from a different company and setup a WordPress.org install that you install and maintain yourself. Also see http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ I really love the things you’ve been doing with WordPress.com though :) so I hope you stick around here!
I love the artwork at http://designedbymk.com/ and it’s one of my favorite examples of the Photographer theme.

I like http://hisanddhers.wordpress.com/ because it’s very streamlined. I hope you keep adding to it!
