    I was trying to build a simple one-page website with a black background, but you don’t seem to be able to do that on WordPress.

    Please refund my money.

    Hi there,

    Sorry to hear you’ve been having some trouble getting started. It’s definitely possible to set up a single page website, but by default when you first start your site it may show blog posts as the default homepage.

    In this case you will need to take the small step of setting a static homepage (into which you can add the entire contents of your one page site) instead of the blog functionality shown now.

    To do that you can create a new page and call it “Home” here: https://wordpress.com/pages/

    Once you have created your page, you can return to the settings for your site and tell WordPress to use it as your homepage here: https://wordpress.com/settings/writing/

    Do you happen to have any sites that you are drawing inspiration from or trying to emulate? I see you have your current site set to use a theme with a black background but we’re happy to take a look at any sites you’re drawing inspiration from and see if we offer another theme from our library that may offer a better starting point. https://wordpress.com/themes/
