Redoable Lite blogs are all broken!
-
Hi– I understand that this is an old, retired blog theme, but up until around December 23 of last year, my favourite theme, Redoable Lite, was still working. Now, all the posts are gone from any blog that uses Redoable Lite.
My site: https://webloomsage.wordpress.com/
Other examples: https://deadhomersociety.wordpress.com/
https://obamadiary.wordpress.com/
https://yesbuts.wordpress.com/
https://teamlardbutt.wordpress.com/
https://vigilius.wordpress.com/
I dunno what changed within the last two weeks, but I’d assume it’s not the theme itself, since… it’s retired and all. Could anything be done so the WordPress API continues to respond correctly with it? Otherwise, all of these blogs will be unreadable. (The only workaround is to trick the blogs into mobile mode by adding, “?ak_action=accept_mobile” to the end of the URL.)
On the other hand, I believe that another retired theme, K2-lite, had also stopped working around December 23. But, as you can see, it’s back to working, from this example: https://howesound.wordpress.com/ So I don’t know if what happened there can just be repeated for Redoable Lite, since they’re around the same generation of theme. I understand there’s very little chance I’ll get my theme back, but I’m asking primarily on behalf of the legacy of many, many wonderful blogs from before that will be unreadable if nothing is done.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

AHA— this confirms my suspicion about K2-lite’s compatibility being fixed. The Wayback Machine snapshot for the K2-lite blog example as it appeared on November 20, 2023, with visible posts: https://web.archive.org/web/20231120074112/https://howesound.wordpress.com/

And, of course, how it looks now, fixed: https://howesound.wordpress.com/

Those temps are long time outdated and retired. As already said in other similar threads, there is no other solution than changing to a recent theme.

I provided an example where an equally outdated theme (K2-lite) was fixed within the last two weeks.

@homestarrunnertron Hello and thanks for reaching out!
Both the editor and WordPress.com receive regular updates, including changes to the underlying coding languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. The issue with your theme likely stems from an update in one of these areas.
The K2 and Redoable Lite themes haven’t been updated since their retirement in April 2013 and July 2013, respectively. The continuous evolution of the block editor and other software updates may be causing compatibility issues or, conversely, attempting to resolve them.
Given that these themes were retired long before the introduction of the block editor, they may face more challenges as technology progresses. As @staartmees pointed out, switching to a compatible theme is the only way to ensure your site remains compatible with ongoing updates.
I hope this provides clarity.

: )
Mwahaha.
Every blog with K2-lite works again.
Thank you to whoever/whatever fixed it, however inadvertently.

Er, that is to say, K2-lite AND Redoable Lite all work now! I was in such a state of disbelief and exhilaration that I mis-posted. It is nearly 4am– I’m just so happy, hahaha.
