Questionable Referrer

    Hi,

    In the October 12 Referrer section of my stats page is a “referrer” with MY blog site’s address — along with the word “files” stuck in the URL.

    Is someone sifting through my files, and possibly doing things they have no business doing?

    Hi there,

    All a referrer stat shows is where someone visiting your site came from.

    All files uploaded to your media library are indexed by search engines on a public site, and people can also share individual media files using the direct URL of the file, rather than sharing the post in which that file is embedded.

    If someone gets to your site via a media file, that URL will show as the referrer.
