question about new default avatars
-
I like the options for the different default avatars for commenters. However, unless I’m missing something ALL of my commenters, even the ones who have their own custom avatars, are getting the default option. I have “Show avatars” selected with an appropriate rating (and I even tested with all of the ratings just in case) but all I get are default avatars. Have I overlooked something?
-
Are these people with wp.com avatars or gravatars? Where is this showing up? In the comment itself or in a widget? Link please?
-
those users who have got their own avatars
still appear with their own avatars in my blog.
i didn’t change anything in the blog.ps.
wanted to say thanks to wordpress command
for that colourful idea with avatars! :) -
This is also happening to me. The problem is with Gravatars. The default avatars appear even if the commenter has a gravatar.
-
Have you changed your settings in accordance with the new instructions? The default is NOT Gravatars:
-
Identicon shouldn’t trump gravatar….
It doesn’t in the comment itself (I just changed an identicon to a gravatar). SInce the sidebars are cached, I can’t tell about the recent comment widget.
-
I’m not having a problem with gravatar users. Theirs are still showing up. For those without avatars, I have selected Identicons.
-
An author on my blog who’s left a comment has a different avatar showing against her comment in the Recent Comments widget and not her proper avatar which displays in the Recent Posts widget.
A gravatar displays against her comment regardless of which avatar size I choose when customising the Recent Comments widget.
See Becky’s avatars on http://foodconfessional.wordpress.com/

OK, so it seems the problem may be with the Recent Comments widget. You may want to send that to support.
-
The recent comment widget and gravatars has been flaky all along. I went through a half dozen support emails a week or so ago…
-
If a commenter wants to use her own picture instead of the new avatar, how can she do that?

I downloaded an avatar of my own to replace the new emoticon avator on my blog and it showed there and then, like it was supposed to, on my comments at other blogs. Then today, on the other blogs the avatar switched back to a random emoticon, even though the one I downloaded is still showing on my blog. Anyone got a clue as to what this means?
-
I’m having the same problem. I notice, usually, it’s people from blogger. Their avatars are not showing up on either the comment page, or recent comment (it just shows the anonymous head… what I have selected when there is no avatar). I KNOW these people have avatars, because this is a new problem that occurred only AFTER the new options from WP.

***Anomie has her own Avatar, she’s through blogger
Her avatar has also disappeared from her previous replies on my blog, when it DID show before. How can I fix this? -
Ok, I posted, and now it is fixed. The power of posting. So, I guess ignore the comment above.
-
i can see a commentator’s avatar in my dashboard, which her avatar generated by her email provider (she has no website -maybe). but in my blog pages, her avatar doesn’t come up. it’s replaced by default avatar. what should i do?
-
Nothing. If she just got her avatar it can take hours to show on the blog. And if she does not have a Gravatar, Identicon, or WP.com avatar, it will never show up.

Ok. Avatars are gone again. Both in comments and on sidebar for those visiting my blog from blogger.

Anomie has an avatar. It was showing up fine, now it is defaulting AGAIN to that stupid “mystery man” thing.
