  Your avatar can’t have any transparencies in it; likely that’s the reason it’s going back. Try giving it a white background as detailed below and it should work.

  I had a visitor to my site (http://blackberry8130.wordpress.com) whose avatar was all-black on the regular blog pages EXCEPT inside my dashboard, where it showed up fine. How can that be explained (anybody)?
