Problems with YouTube Videos in new editor
-
I have tried several times, and both methods; by inserting code and using the URL, but cannot get YouTube videos into my blog any longer. They go into the editor ok, but when I publish the entry, for some reason they disappear.
Anybody else having this trouble???

Oops sorry I guess I should have told you I am using Internet Explorer v7 on a Windows Xp platform.
-
Are you using the [youtube=insertURLofyoutubevideo] and inserting it in code view? I’ve done a couple test vids that way and it worked well.
Make sure that the video is still on youtube, and make sure you have the correct URL.

I am having problems with the new format. My YouTube inserts (and I am using the structure mentioned by thesacredpath) are showing up as links, not images, on my posts.
Any suggestions?

Are you putting the youtube stuff in in code (html) view? If you put it in in the visual editor, it thinks it is just normal text.
-
-
If it is not showing up for you, go to users > your profile and check the “use visual rich text editor” near the top and click update profile and you should now have the visual editor when you go to write page or post.

>>>Where, praytell oh sacred member, is the “Visual Editor” in this new format?
At the far right of the Write frame, you don’t have two tabs: Visual and HTML?

I’ve just confirmed for myself that the Add Video interface has a bug in it. YouTube URLs *do* appear as a clickable link!
The solution is to use the HTML editor and do the manual format of:
[ youtube=http://theYouTubeURL ]— minus the spaces I’ve put in there.

I CANNOT GET YOUTUBE VIDEOS TO DOWNLOAD CORRECTLY EITHER. BEFORE THAT ALL WENT IN JUST FINE. NOW, I COPY AND PASTE THE CORRECT URL INTO THE VIDEO BOX AS IT SAYS TO AND WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS DONE BEFORE THE DASHBOARD CHANGE AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY. NOW, WHEN I PRESS THE INSERT INTO POST BUTTON ONLY HALF THE CODE COMES UP, THEN WHEN I VIEW IT HAS THAT LITTLE CODE IN THE POST RATHER THAN THE VIDEO. I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW DASHBOARD AT ALL. THE OLD DASHBOARD WAS VERY USER FRIENDLY, NOW I CANNOT FIND ANYTHING AND MY VIDEO POST WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD DAHSBOARD AND TRY AGAIN.

OK, I did use the manual format of [youtube etc....] and still get a clickable link, not the video image. Seems like there’s still a bug, or this capability has gone away. Sad.
-
No, it’s a bug — for some people still. Make sure to contact Support to let them know. I don’t think they are looking here in the Forums. But they’re on duty this weekend.
You’re sure you used the HTML editor and not Visual by mistake?
-
Yes, I did use HTML editor and did manual entry. Are you able to achieve this — adding a Youtube video and have it appear as an image in your post?
-
Yes. See here:
I also just used vodpod to insert a Brightcove video (that went less smoothly but ultimately worked);
-
I can’t get you tube vids to work either. Just getting a link rather than an inset video.
-
I am having exactly the same problem with you Tube Videos. They will only show as a link, and NOT actually appear on my blog page. Honestly, this is this worst “new format” that I’ve ever experienced anywhere. Please do something to restore our faith that things will be better!

I figure out what needs to happen:
Go to “Visual” and manually type [youtube= at the beginning of the youtube url, then type ] at the end of the url. Should work as follows:
[youtube=[watch?v=Om_lI115gvo&feature=related]] -
