Post Access settings: Subscriber Only emails issues and feedback
-
Ever one to test something live, I just published a post which was sent to “Anyone subscribed”.
The issue is when someone clicks on the link to access the post from their email notification and is not logged in to WordPress.com, they are met with a subscribe to access notice. If the subscriber enters the email address with which they already subscribed, they’re met with a security challenge and need to go back to their email to get the code and then come back to the page to enter the code and access the post.
This is way too much friction, IMO. At the very least the post link in the email notification should be keyed to automatically log the subscriber in, or provide a log in option directly in the subscription box itself.

Hi Jen!
Thanks for sharing your feedback! I agree; we could probably reduce some friction there. I’ve passed this on to the developers working on this area.
Have a good one!

Also just noting that it looks like another site owner posted something similar back in July https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/privacy-235/#post-3986040
