Possible ‘phishing’ followers

    I have been receiving numerous e-mails alerting me that I have new followers. All of them are outlook.com accounts and none of them show up on my followers list. I believe they are spam accounts or phishing accounts. How can I know for sure and still be safe in checking them out?

    Hi there, spam followers from outlook.com email addresses is a known issue and Staff are working to remove those followers directly behind the scenes so you don’t have to.

    If you have email notifications of new followers enabled, you may wish, until this current wave of spam followers is over, to turn off email notifications by changing your settings here: https://wordpress.com/me/notifications Click the arrow on the right and uncheck the box next to Site follows > Email.
